Having a Web design is useless if this website or page is not known by its target audience. There are different ways of promoting a Web page or site: including the URL of the page on brochures or e-mails, banners, etc. But the most efficient way of doing this is by optimizing your Web site so that it can be recognized by search engines and ranked among the first listings. This process of optimazing a website for it to appear on search engines is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

How does it work? This work can only be done by experts in this field, who are generally called SEO consultants. They take certain words of a Web page written content and optimize them for them to be recognized by search engines. These search engines –Google.com, for example- use algorithms to determine which words in a search string are to be treated as keywords. These keywords are words that are used to find matching pages for different entires on a search engine. They capture the essence of the topic of each Web site or page. Certain words are not treated as keywords for being common, and because they do not take part of the essence of any site –prepositions like “of”, articles like “the”, conjunctions like “but”.
If your Web site is well optimized, every time users search for something that is related to the topics your Web site deals with, it will appear among the first listing of the search. Users will eventually click on the first options they encounter. For this reason, SEO is also part of Web Design Process.
However, this SEO process would not exist without a written content. It is of no use to toss a bunch of non-cohesive keywords into a Web site. It is important for the site to have a good written content with which readers can feel confortable and informed. Apart from this, the longer the contest the better for its optimization, since the whole text will be rich in keywords, and, thus, more easily recognized by search engines.
To have a good written content is also important to ensure visitors will return to the website because they found it reliable and coherent. For this reason, hiring a copywriter is convenient. He or she will know how to organize the information so that it is easier for readers to find what they want and to follow the text. He or she will also have the skills to write a coherent and cohesive text that will not confuse the reader.
